Sensor applications and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are becoming a part of our everyday life. A number of network arrangements are used in WSN. In this paper, we focus on the cluster based network to help identify the issues associated with communication within such networks. We present a light- weight multi-agent routing framework for a cluster based WSN to resolve some issues associated with such networks. By using state- of-art protocol in a unique combination and categorizing cluster layers, we take full advantage of the properties of the selected protocols. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed method is light-weight in terms of energy consumption by the sensor nodes communicating information within a cluster based network. Nevertheless, high network throughput and robust data communication are also achieved

Introduction: Many countries are encountered workplace violence almost in every field of employment which is a real matter of concern. The occurrence of violence at work place has become a serious threat to the safety and security of employees; exploit their dignity, further leads to lower wellbeing among them. It most of the times puts life in troubles and may lead to death like serious consequences among the health care workers. Work place violence is considered among the leading causes of deaths at the US among women who serve in hospitals or any other services.Method: A quantitative cross-sectional study design was used to determine the effects of workplace violence regarding nurse’s job satisfaction, turnover intention and quality care in tertiary care hospital. 160 nurses were selected as sample. Data was collected through the standardized well adopted questionnaires. Results: The results reveals that the workplace violence was from last twelve months, patients towards nurses is high 68.8%. The statistical difference between “job satisfaction” and “work place violence is significant P=.000.  Further there is significant correlation between workplace violence and job satisfaction and P=.000. The relationship between workplace violence (WPV), Job satisfaction, turnover intention (TI), and quality of care (QOC) revealed that there is significant relationship p < 0.05. Conclusions: Nurses in Pakistan are at high risk of workplace violence, especially verbal attack. In addition, they have a low level of job satisfaction and a high level of turnover intention. Job satisfaction plays the mediator role between workplace and turnover intention and quality of care among nurses. In order to clarify the mechanisms of turnover intention resulting from work place violence, further study should be conducted in-depth, such as how coping strategies used by emergency nurses who experienced workplace violence can affect their turnover intention. The main objective was to investigate the socioeconomic status and dependent personality as the predictor of nail biting among adults. A sample of 101 adults that nail bit was selected from Sialkot city that aged above 19 to 75 years using purposive sampling from government and private educational institutes and local communities. The socioeconomic status and nail biting measured in the demographic form asking information about income, education, profession and do you nail bit. Further, dependent personality was checked with Dependent Personality Disorder scale Urdu version (Shahzadi & Bano, 2018). Results showed that there is significant predictive relationship present between these two variables on samples (N= 101), R= .432 which indicates a moderate correlation. The R2= .187 which indicated that 1.8% variation in the dependent variable, can be explained by the independent variable. Adjusted R-square a modify form of R-square which is also 1.7 variation in data. Descriptive results of this study showed that these two variables from sample (N= 320) are co-occur only in (N= 101) participants with 31.5 percentage generally in both male and female of Sialkot city. Structure Equation Modeling was used for the analysis of data. The model fit summary indicated the p value of .000 which indicates that socioeconomic factors and dependent personality was the significant predictor of nail biting among adults. All the model fit indices were also in the best prescribed limits as Chi-square/df (1.106), Goodness of Fit Index (.976), Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index (.940), Comparative Fit Index (.974) and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (.033). Furthermore, the income regression estimate indicates that when income, profession and dependent personality goes up by 1 standard deviation, the nail biting goes up by 0.21, 0.12 and 0.4 standard deviations respectively whereas in case of education, it goes up by 1 standard deviation and the nail biting behavior goes down by .09 standard deviations. Conclusion: In conclusion, the socioeconomic status and dependent personality was the significant predictor of nail biting behavior among adults

Presence and Absence: Representation(s) of Women on Primetime television in Pakistan

    No full text
Women's representations in the media have a significant impact on how people view women, perceive gender roles, and form their identities. In Pakistan, television is not only a major source of entertainment but it also plays a key role in gender role socialization by reinforcing patriarchal ideology. Primarily based on the theoretical framework of social semiotics (Kress & Leeuwen, 2006), discourse analysis (Fairclough, 1995), and feminist critical discourse analysis (Lazar, 2005), this study seeks to deconstruct the way women are represented in primetime dramas in Pakistan. The analysis of 14 primetime dramas each of PTV Home and Geo Entertainment channel suggest that Pakistani primetime dramas are mainly focusing on domestic issues where women are positioned in a narrow range of social roles i.e. as wives, mothers, and daughters, and are rarely shown in any productive roles. As a result, women in primetime dramas are projected not to have a personal identity of their own rather they have been identified regarding their familial roles and relations. Such representations of women emphasize their domestic and reproductive roles and provide a restrictive and deleterious portrait of women which contributes to the marginalization of women in our society. The representations of women in Pakistani primetime dramas, therefore, underline patriarchal ideological practices which have strong implications regarding women’s social roles and identities in Pakistan

Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of Tagetes minuta L. (Asteraceae) leaves resulted in the isolation and identification of two new compounds: 5-methyl-2,2',5',2'',5'',2''',5''',2''''-quinquethiophene (1) and quercetagetin-6-O-(6-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside) (9), in addition to seven known compounds: quercetin-3,6-dimethyl ether (2), quercetin-3-methyl ether (3), quercetin (4), axillarin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), quercetagetin-3,7-dimethoxy-6-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), quercetagetin-7-methoxy-6-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (7), and quercetagetin-6-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (8). The compounds were identified by UV, IR, 1D, 2D NMR, and HRESIMS spectral data. They showed significant antioxidant activity, comparable with that of propyl gallate. Compounds 8 and 3 showed weak to moderate antileishmanial and antimalarial activities, with IC50 values of 31.0 μg/mL and 4.37 μg/mL, respectively
